PETALING JAYA: The law provides for peaceful assembly and the authorities should facilitate and not ban Bersih 4, said the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam).
Suhakam chairman Tan Sri Hasmy Agam said following the repeal of Section 27 of the Police Act 1967, the concept of illegal assembly no longer exists in law, and accordingly, cannot be banned.
