SEPANG: Malaysians can write their own version of the Shopaholic series ala Sophie Kinsella with the opening of another sprawling shopping mall.
The Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang, which will host a grand launch on July 29, features 127 brands ranging from Adidas to Zalora.
The factory outlet mall has billed itself as Japanese-inspired, with a “Japan Avenue” to entice shoppers with traditional arts and crafts, tea and culinary delights.
Mitsui Outlet Park is a joint venture between Japanese retail property developer Mitsui Fudosan and Malaysia Airports.
Most of the stores are already opened. During the Hari Raya weekend, shoppers were seen checking out the merchandise.
Former Prisons Department director-general Tan Sri Mohd Zaman Khan was among those spotted yesterday. He was there with his children and grandchildren.
“My son told me about this place. It is very good here. Things are in an orderly manner. The building is nice and spacious,” he said.
Although the place was some distance away from the city, he said that this was always the case for factory outlets overseas.
The mall is about 60km from Kuala Lumpur, but just 6km from KL International Airport.
