PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman has rubbished a viral WhatsApp message warning that police will check mobile phones at roadblocks in search of messages on 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB).
Federal Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mortadza Nazarene said the people should not to be fooled by such fake messages aimed at misleading them.
“There is absolutely no truth in it. We have better things to do than check mobile phones for 1MDB messages,” he said yesterday.
Part of the message read: “Please delete all messages about 1MDB as police will check your hand phone anytime. My cousin bro friend in KL had it, be careful, tell everybody!”
Comm Mortadza said no roadblock had been put up to screen mobile phones for 1MDB-related news.
“I remind everyone not to be influenced by such messages,” he said.
“We will investigate this matter further.”
