GEORGE TOWN: Penang police continued their crackdown on vice activities with the arrest of 10 Chinese nationals at an entertainment outlet in Jalan Datuk Keramat here.

The raid was the third one under Ops Noda in the last two weeks that netted 69 foreign women.

In the midnight raid yesterday, the women, aged between 24 and 33, were believed to be working as guest relation officers (GRO).

They were busy attending to patrons when a team of 13 personnel from the police district’s D7 (Anti-Vice, Gaming and Secret Societies Division) stormed the place.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the women had violated their social visit passes under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.

He said police also detained the outlet’s caretaker, 27, and recorded statements from six patrons aged between 23 and 59.

“We found the women working without valid permits. The case is also being investigated under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for employing a person who does not possess a valid pass,” he said.
