KUALA LUMPUR: The decision to postpone Umno polls has nothing to do with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), says Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pic).

“We want to resolve several political issues happening in the country and prepare for the next general election.

“The postponement has nothing to do with 1MDB,” said the Umno secretary-general during a Hari Raya shopping programme with orphans and underprivileged children in Tamam Setiawangsa on Saturday.

Umno has deferred its internal polls originally set for next year by 18 months.

Tengku Adnan added that the postponement of party polls was made after a workshop held in Janda Baik.

He said grass roots leaders who attended the workshop had agreed to the delay.
