GEORGE TOWN: While DAP continues to push PAS into directing its representatives holding posts in the Penang government and its agencies to quit, PAS has retaliated by accusing Lim Guan Eng of being vindictive.
Lim repeated his tirade, saying “the four PAS councillors clinging on to their posts would devalue the dignity and honour of PAS in the eyes of the public”.
“As Penang Chief Minister and DAP secretary-general, PAS severing ties with DAP is effectively severing ties with me,” he said in a statement.
“How can the four PAS councillors serve the Penang state government effectively then?”
He said PAS should bear full responsibility for “killing off” Pakatan Rakyat after its recent muktamar accepted without debate a motion by its Dewan Ulama to sever ties with DAP.
“Logically, PAS should direct its government representatives to resign since they are no longer a part of Pakatan.
“Even its former deputy president Mohamad Sabu and its MP and former central committee member Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa have given up their government posts in Penang to uphold the muktamar’s motion,” he said.
Lim added that the new PAS leadership had clearly not only lost their honour but also their principles.
He said he had received another resignation letter from Penang PAS Information chief Rosidi Hussain who was a director of Penang Youth Development Corporation.
In Kota Baru, PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah ticked off Lim for being impatient.
Mohd Amar, who is also the Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar, said once PAS’ motion was endorsed by the Syura Council and the party’s central body, everyone would resign.
“Which part of the explanation given by PAS leaders does he (Lim) still not understand?
“As it is, PAS is still officially with Pakatan and the motion to sever ties with DAP remains a motion.
“So, I cannot see what the fuss is all about – unless Lim is a vindictive person,” he said after launching the Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra Fest 2015 yesterday.
