GEORGE TOWN: Assorted drugs that included 3,595 ecstasy pills worth more than RM192,000 were seized with the arrest of three men and a woman in police raids in Nibong Tebal and Butterworth.

In the first raid, an insurance agent and a labourer, aged 29 and 33, were detained at a house in Simpang Ampat, near Nibong Tebal, at 2.45am on Wednesday.

A total of 2,650 ecstasy pills, 264gm of caffeine, 300ml of liquid drug and 14gm of powdered ecstasy were found in the premises.

State narcotics chief Supt Guan Beng Kang said a BMW worth RM120,000 was also seized under the Forfeiture of Property Act, adding that the two suspects, who had five criminal records between them, also tested positive for drug abuse.

“The other raid was at a condominium unit in Butterworth at 11am the same day. A 19-year-old youth and a 27-year-old woman were detained with 945 ecstasy pills, 208.1gm of ketamine, 96.2gm of methamphetamine and 60gm of Erimin 5 pills with a market price of RM68,700.

“We also confiscated a BMW, a Toyota Vios and gold ornaments and watches worth RM165,000, which we believe were bought using money obtained from the sale of drugs,” he told a press conference yesterday.
