PETALING JAYA: Datuk Mohammad Mantek has become the first Sabahan to be appointed secretary-general of the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry. 

The former Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) director-general was given his letter of appointment effective May 27 from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
