KOTA KINABALU: The late Kpl Razkan Seran, who was killed with six others in a helicopter crash in Semenyih last month, has been posthumously promoted to Sarjan.

His widow, Setinurafeni Andu, 30, said she was honoured to represent her late husband.

“He (Sjn Razkan) was supposed to get his promotion in May, and it breaks my heart that he is not able to receive the promotion himself but I am grateful and honoured that the police recognise his sacrifices”, she said.

Sjn Razkan died while on duty as bodyguard to Rompin MP and special envoy to the United States Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis on April 4. He was promoted to Sarjan by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar at a ceremony here on yesterday.

Besides Sjn Razkan, Jamaluddin, principal private secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Azlin Alias, pilot Capt Clifford William Fournier Jr, Aidana Baizieva and businessman Datuk Robert Tan Huat Seng died in the crash.

Sjn Razkan leaves behind his wife, two-year-old son Ahmad Qais and six-year-old daughter Nur Aqilah Darwisyah.

Meanwhile, Setinurafeni said her daughter would occasionally ask where her father was and is still unsure what the word death means.

“She would ask me where her father is and what time he would come home and I will tell her that he is no longer with us,” she said, wiping away her tears.
