Brunei Sultan and Malay Rulers attend royal banquet

KUALA KANGSAR: The Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, and wife Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha were among 570 guests who attended the royal banquet in conjunction with the enthronement of the 35th Ruler of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim.

The dinner was held at Istana Iskandariah in Bukit Chandan here last night.

Others who attended include other Malay Rulers – Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V, Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Perlis Ruler Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Jamalullail.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

The enthronement ceremony for Sultan Nazrin as Perak’s 35th Ruler was held on Wednesday. On Friday, the royal couple embarked on the Pilgrimage to the Royal Tombs of the state’s past monarchs.

The Perak Sultan’s enthronement comprises six major ceremonies – the Commencement Ceremony, the Customary Enthronement, the Invocation of the Perak Guardian Spirits, the Pilgrimage to the Royal Tombs, Setting Foot on Beting Beras Basah and the Completion Ceremony.
