BUKIT MERTAJAM: Vote for the candidate who is not burdened with baggage, said Perak MB Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

He said that Suhaimi Sabudin, the Barisan Nasional candidate for Permatang Pauh, had no baggage and could better serve the people and clean up the mess in the area.

He also said the response on the ground was good.

Dr Zambry said they did not mind Umno’s candidate being perceived as the underdog.

“When you are the underdog, you don’t have much pressure. You have peace of mind to strategise. However, you must work hard to build up your confidence.

“Who knows, we might be able to pull another Teluk Intan,” he said while visiting Kampung Bagan Serai in Permatang Pauh here yesterday.

In May 2014, Barisan’s Datuk Mah Siew Keong (Gerakan) won the Teluk Intan seat which became vacant after its MP Seah Leong Peng of DAP died of cancer.

Pakatan Rakyat fielded DAP’s Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud. Mah won 20,157 votes to Dyana Sofya’s 19,919 votes.
