LANGKAWI: Malaysia’s efforts to promote moderation received a major boost when Asean leaders agreed to adopt it as one of the key agendas for the region.
The Langkawi Declaration on the Global Movement of Moderates, which was adopted at the 26th Asean Summit, contained measures which Asean leaders agreed to take to their countries to promote moderation as an Asean value. The leaders also agreed to promote the observance of a Year of Moderation at the United Nations to underscore the importance of moderation.
