Semenyih crash: Jamaluddin laid to rest at National Mausoleum

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis was laid to rest at the Heroes Mausoleum here amidst a drizzle on Sunday afternoon.

The funeral prayer (solat jenazah) was conducted at 4.45pm after the Asar prayer by Chief Imam of the National Mosque Tan Sri Sheikh Ismail Muhammad.

Jamaluddin's casket arrived at the National Mosque at 3.15pm and was carried by his son, Ikhwan Hafiz, family members together with army pallbearers from the 1st Royal Malay Regiment (RMR).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, their newlywed daughter, Nooryana Najwa Mohd Najib, and her husband Daniyar Kessikbayev were among those who paid their last respects at the mosque.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Afdal, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.

Najib had earlier attended the burial of his principal private secretary, Datuk Azlin Alias, after Zohor prayers in Kajang.

Jamaluddin and Azlin were among six people in a helicopter that crashed on Saturday.

The others who were killed were businessman Datuk Robert Tan, pilot Capt Clifford Fournier, Aidana Baizieva, and Jamaluddin’s bodyguard Mohd Razkan Seran, 32.

The helicopter was heading to Subang when it crashed in Semenyih.
