KUCHING: Sarawak's four Barisan Nasional component parties are united in their stand against the implementation of hudud, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem (pic).

He said the parties – PBB, PRS, SPDP and SUPP – had made their stand clear at a Barisan leaders meeting in Parliament recently.

"We were almost unanimous in saying we are against hudud. The Sarawak Barisan parties were unanimous," he told reporters after a briefing with state and Federal enforcement agencies at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Thursday.

Adenan added that he had received Sarawak PKR's letter asking him to table a motion in the upcoming State Legislative Assembly sitting to declare that hudud would not be implemented in the state. He, however, declined to say whether would accept the proposal.

"We'll deal with it when the time comes," he said.

Adenan, nevertheless, pointed out that he had already said that hudud would not be implemented in Sarawak in his winding-up speech at last assembly sitting in November.

The state PKR had written to Adenan last week to propose the tabling of a joint motion against hudud as part of a non-partisan Sarawakian front to safeguard the Federal Constitution and a secular Malaysia.
