Left in the lurch: The abandoned Sekolah Agama Mutiara Rini project along Persiaran Utama, Skudai. Jaafar (inset) hopes the school will be completed soon so his grandson does not need to rush to another religious school 5km away.

JOHOR BARU: Residents are hoping that an abandoned school project here would be completed soon to enable students to attend religious classes.

Checks by The Star found that the 70% completed two-storey Sekolah Agama Mutiara Rini was abandoned for about three years. There is no indication that the construction work will continue anytime soon.
