SHAH ALAM: A defamation dispute between Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Dr Mohd Khir Toyo was settled with an apology in the High Court here by the latter.
"I sincerely offer my apologies to Khalid for the two statements I've made against him.
"As the Opposition leader at that time, I might have tarnish, damaged his image, reputation and integrity being the Menteri Besar," said Dr Mohd Khir.
Counsel for Khalid, S. N. Nair, said both parties agreed on the apology and a settlement with costs.
However, the amount of the settlement was not disclosed.
The dispute revolves around two defamation suits filed by the two former Selangor Mentris Besar in 2009 over allegations related to Khalid's personal vehicle and the purchase of 46 cows.
The suits were also related to two articles bearing the allegations which appeared in the New Straits Times and Utusan Malaysia in January the same year.
