KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar (pic) will not be remanded by the police after giving her statement over an allegedly seditious remark she made in Parliament, PKR sources say.

The party's communications director Fahmi Fadzil said police would record the PKR vice-president's statement Tuesday morning before releasing her.

Nurul Izzah arrived at Dang Wangi police station at 11.15am on Tuesday, accompanied by lawyer R. Sivarasa.

"She is not being remanded further. The police have informed us that their lawyer will not pursue a remand order," Fahmi said when contacted Tuesday.

Nurul Izzah was arrested Monday and detained overnight at the Jinjang lock-up after appearing at the Dang Wangi police station to give a statement on the Kita Lawan rally last week.

She is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act for allegedly making a seditious remark when reading out a speech by her father, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in Parliament last Tuesday.
