PETALING JAYA: Kota Baru PAS division has no plans to nominate other candidates to contest against Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang now that its nominee, vice-president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, has decline the challenge in the June party polls.

"We don't want to contradict ourselves (by nominating other candidates)," Kota Baru division chief Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah (pic) told

The Star Online when contacted.

He refused to comment on Tuan Ibrahim's decision to refuse the nomination.

"Respecting leaders is our culture and I don't wish to comment more than that," he added.

The Kota Baru division had on Monday named Tuan Ibrahim as a contender for the president's post, citing Abdul Hadi's health reasons.

However, Tuan Ibrahim turned down the nomination, saying the "unprecedented" challenge for the top post was not good for party unity.

Tuan Ibrahim said it was best to "stick to the current tradition" where the top post had always been won uncontested in the era of the ulama leadership.
