80s singer Famieza dies, aged 43

PETALING JAYA: Singer Famiza Zulkifli, who scored a big hit in 1989 with Getaran, died late Wednesday due to heart problems, aged 43.

Famiza, whose stage name was Famieza, passed away at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) around 11.20pm.

The singer was touted to be one of the first local artistes to introduce R&B and jazz music in the country.

She eventually left the entertainment industry to open up her own beauty and cosmetics company, Muslimah Skincare and Cosmetic Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, based in Kedah.

Famieza is expected to be buried at the Seri Muda cemetery in Gombak later in the day.

Condolences for the singer poured in on her Facebook page, with many expressing shock over her death, as Famieza had responded to their messages and calls until Feb 17.
