PETALING JAYA: A senior PAS leader recently accused of conspiring against the party president found his four-wheel drive vehicle in flames outside his residence in Hulu Klang on Saturday morning.
An online news portal reported that a security guard on patrol spotted an unidentified man torching the vehicle belonging to PAS elections director Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, around 3.50am.
The incident occurred when the unidentified man emerged from another car that drove past the house, before setting the vehicle parked outside alight.
One of Hatta’s children reportedly put out the flames before the fire department and police arrived, the portal reported.
Hatta, who is also a PAS central committee member, has been at the centre of controversy after being accused by certain quarters in the party of conspiring to topple party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
Last Sunday, a group of Hadi’s supporters protested outside the PAS headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut calling ahead of the central working committee meeting.
They submitted a memorandum calling for Hatta’s resignation, and naming several other PAS leaders said to be in cahoots to topple the president and the ulama leadership.
