TAIPEI: At least 23 people were killed and some others feared trapped after a TransAsia Airways plane crashed into a river in New Taipei City on Wednesday.

Taipei City Fire Department acting commissioner Wu Chun-hong told reporters that efforts to reach the victims are slow as the passengers seats are mangled and the front of the plane - where some of the missing victims are believed to be - is stuck in the riverbed, according to the United Daily News (UDN) website.
