Floods: Old photos circulated, Sarawak CM urges stop to rumours

By YU JI

This photograph showing Kuching Waterfront totally submerged is likely to be taken in 2009 -- not yesterday. Although serious floods are occurring in southern Sarawak, that part of Kuching city was not as severely affected on Sunday.

KUCHING: Although there are major floods in Sarawak, some of the most sensational photographs making the rounds online are either from past incidents or faked.

A widely circulated photo that shows Kuching Waterfront totally submerged in water is likely to be from 2009. The photo, which in the background shows Pullman Kuching still under construction (the hotel opened in 2010), was believed by many to be current.
