ALOR SETAR: A Bukit Aman Special Branch officer, who was seriously wounded during the Ops Daulat campaign in Sabah, leads the honours list of award recipients in conjunction with the Sultan of Kedah’s 87th birthday celebration today.
Asst Supt Mohamad Hasnal Jamil will receive the Bintang Keberanian Kedah (BKK), a reward medal conferred on members of the Armed Forces and the police who have shown exceptional bravery in their duties.
The 33-year-old, who was shot three times and suffered six slash wounds to his arms during the Sulu intrusion, is among 76 people who will receive awards from the Kedah Regency Council chairman Tunku Temenggong Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah at Istana Anak Bukit here today.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa will receive the Darjah Paduka Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim (DHMS), which carries the title Datuk Paduka.
Kedah State Secretary Datuk Mohd Puat Mohd Ali will be made the Orang Besar Enam Belas (Datuk Jaya Budiman).
HMS Oil & Gas Sdn Bhd chairman Norazman Hamidun heads a group of seven recipients in receiving the Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (DGMK), which carries the title Datuk Wira.
Land and Mines Department director-general Datuk Seri Azemi Kasim is among three recipients of the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Kedah (DPMK), which carries the title Datuk.
A total of 41 people will receive Datukship under the Darjah Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) and among those honoured are Ambassador to Finland Puan Sri Blanche Olbery, state executive council members Badrol Hisham Hashim and Norsabrina Mohd Noor, as well as Kedah Chinese Assembly Hall chairman Cheng Lai Hock.
Three others will also receive Datukship under the DSDK Kehormat award.
Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir will head 19 people who will receive the Jaksa Pendamai. The others include Kuah assemblyman Nor Saidi Nanyan, Senator Datuk Boon Som Inong and Barisan Nasional component party leaders.
