KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR’s Inanam assemblyman Dr Roland Chia, who created a stir last month over his intention to resign the state seat, has been appointed the state treasurer.

Sabah PKR chief Datuk Lajim Ukin named Chia as the state liaison committee treasurer when announcing the state line-up for 2015-2018.

Dr Chia, who held the vice-chairman II post in the outgoing state committee, was given the treasurer's post which was held by businessman Teo Kin Kee who is now assistant treasurer.

"We have discussed the line up and we have agreed on the positions," Lajim told reporters explaining that Dr Chia’s position was not a demotion.

Dr Chia retracted his intention to quit the state seat on Christmas Day after dropping a bombshell a week earlier claiming that he wanted to vacate the seat for health reasons.

Former secretary Datuk James Ghani was made vice-chairman I while his post of secretary was given to former senator Datuk Maijol Mahap.

Api Api assemblywoman Christina Liew was retained as deputy chairman and Moyog assemblyman Terence took over as Information Chief from Maijol in the 21-member state committee line up.

Lajim said the state party was united and believed that the new line-up will further strengthen the party that lost two elected assemblymen a few months after the May 2013 general election.
