Employment of foreign workers under 6P extended

PUTRAJAYA : The Government has extended the employment period of some 352,000 foreign workers under the 6P programme by another year.

Their employment are supposed to end this year and 2015, the Home Ministry said in a statement.

It said the Cabinet agreed to the extension after taking into consideration that a sudden shortage of foreign workers would have a major impact on businesses and the economy.

Foreign workers employed under the 6P programme are given permits of between two and there years depending on the sectors.
