AirAsia gets thumbs up from students and fresh graduates

KUALA LUMPUR: Students and fresh graduates have voted AirAsia as their most popular choice of employer in the leisure, travel and hospitality category for the third consecutive year.

The budget airline’s people department group head Zulfa Ashida Zulkifli said the win was testimony of AirAsia’s strong corporate culture. “The award was presented to us during Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers Awards held over the weekend,” he said.

Besides topping the category, Zulfa said the airline was also named first runner-up of the Graduate Employer of the Year Award.

Also nominated under the category was Berjaya Corp Bhd and Genting Group.

“Our employees are all driven by a passion and hunger to succeed and we are proud that this has resulted in us being named the most popular,” Zulfa said, adding that more than 7,000 locals were employed by the airline.

He said AirAsia is committed to constantly improve itself and attract the best talents in the market.

This was the seventh edition of the annual awards which is held to celebrate and recognise the strength of employer brands in institutions of higher learning and their success in graduate recruitment.

Votes were collected from a total of 14,760 students and graduate job hunters from across the country.
