MB proposes meeting between SIS and Selangor religious authorities

PETALING JAYA: Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali (pic) has proposed a meeting between Sisters in Islam (SIS) and the state’s highest Islamic authorities to iron out the issue of a fatwa on liberalism and pluralism that implicated the feminist group.

Azmin said he had made the proposal with the consent of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah following a meeting of the Selangor Royal Council on Monday that was attended by state mufti Datuk Mohd Tamyes Abd Wahid and officials of the State Islamic Affairs Council (Mais).
