AN Opposition MP has called on the Government to ban child marriages in the country.
Teo Nie Ching (DAP-Kulai) said although the current legal age of marriage for non-Muslims was 18, marriages were allowed for those aged between 16 and 18 with the written consent of authorities such as the mentri besar or chief minister.
