Malaysian Bar asked to clarify its stand on Sri Ram

PETALING JAYA: Some lawyers are asking the Malaysian Bar to clarify its position over retired judge Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram (pic) decision to represent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his sodomy appeal at the Federal Court.

On March 15, the Bar passed a resolution at its annual general meeting that prohibits former judges and other former senior members of the judiciary from representing clients in courts. The resolution was passed after Sri Ram acted as counsel in a constitutional case.
