PETALING JAYA: PAS said it will summon its two rogue Selangor assemblymen to explain themselves after they were given a hero’s welcome and hailed as Pakatan Rakyat saviours at a DAP fundraising dinner here.

The two – Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) and Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) – angered their party when they broke ranks and signed statutory declarations supporting PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the Selangor mentri besar candidate when the party had already decided to throw its support behind former mentri besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

On Saturday night, DAP invited the duo as guests at the party’s event and they were photographed holding hands with party adviser Lim Kit Siang.

“You are not traitors, you are the rakyat’s heroes,” former Selangor exco member Ronnie Liu was quoted as saying at the event.

Bukit Gasing assemblyman R. Rajiv was also reported to have said that the duo’s action stymied alleged plans to set up a PAS-Umno unity government in Selangor.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said they would soon be summoned to explain themselves.

The actions of the two so angered party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang that he described the duo as lackeys who had been bought.
