PETALING JAYA: A retired top judge has proposed amending the Sedition Act 1948 instead of repealing it, by removing the section that makes it an offence to incite hatred against the Government, to ensure that the Government is seen as more transparent and democratic.
Retired Chief Justice of Malaysia Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad said there was no need to abolish the Sedition Act, but amendments should be made instead to preserve national harmony.
