Johoreans holding up signs to commemorate the 57th Merdeka Day.
JOHOR BARU: Despite the downpour and cancellation of the official Ambang Merdeka countdown celebrations this year, many Johoreans thronged the Dataran Bandaraya here to usher in the country 57th Merdeka Day.
The crowd consisting of mostly families with young children started gathering around 8pm, enjoying the cool-breeze while waiting for the stroke of midnight.
