Kemaman council fails in appeal against dismissal of RM5mil suit

PUTRAJAYA: The Kemaman Municipal Council has failed in its appeal to overturn the dismissal of its RM5mil civil claim against PAS for allegedly defaming the council in leaflets about the building and maintenance of its zoo.

Court of Appeal judge Justice Zaharah Ibrahim, who chaired a three-man panel, held that the High Court made a correct decision in rejecting the civil claim. She said the panel was satisfied with the ruling made by High Court Judicial Commissioner Rosilah Yop on Feb 27 that the council had failed to prove elements of defamation in the case.
