PETALING JAYA: New PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad who was embarrassed by a protest walkout at the Youth congress has come under the spotlight again.

The Seri Setia assemblyman was unable to explain to the media whether giant banners congratulating him for winning the Youth leadership were the work of his supporters or opponents.

The banners bearing his picture and congratulatory message were hung in four corners of the Melawati Stadium where PKR is having its two-day annual congress.

“If they are put up by my opponents, I thank them.

“I am not sure who put them up but some of the delegates are still in the election mood,” he said Saturday.

More than a dozen of the newly elected Youth committee had walkout to protest the way Nik Nazmi had won.

The Youth chairman post had been unofficially won by Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shari until the election committee decided last Thursday to allow the election results from the controversial Pensiangan division, thus resulting in Nik Nazmi being declared the winner.
