SHAH ALAM: PAS exco member Dr Halimah Ali (pic) has thrown her support behind Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim describing him as ‘a man who is very prudent with the people's money’.
She said in her two terms working with Khalid in the state government, there were no problems in terms of slacking or wrongdoings from the latter's side.
"The current crisis is a political issue and if you ask me, Khalid cannot be blamed for any wrongdoings.
"But if you ask if I had any issues with him, I would say that it is very difficult to ask for allocations from him," she told reporters at her office Wednesday.
Dr Halimah said Khalid only approved allocations after scrutinising all details and points of an idea brought to him.
"But it is a good thing that he (Khalid) is careful with the people's money," she said
When asked if she was aware of the memorandum of understanding signed between the state and Federal Governments on the water deal, Dr Halimah said she was informed but not in detail.
On the current state administration, Dr Halimah said she and the three PAS exco members with Khalid were sharing the portfolios of the sacked exco members.
"We are executing the policies and whatever that were passed in the last budget," she added.
On PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail being pushed to replace Khalid, Dr Halimah refused to comment, saying that she left it to the palace and the party leaders to decide.
PKR had sacked Khalid after he had failed to show up to explain himself to the disciplinary committee over allegations directed at him.
PAS, which initially supported Khalid as the mentri besar, retracted its backing and instead went along with its Pakatan Rakyat allies in proposing Dr Wan Azizah as the next mentri besar.
The party also nominated Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali as the second candidate.
Khalid had said that he would meet the Sultan next week.
