Young Zarif happy to mimic Bapa Malaysia

Five-year-old Merdeka icon Zarif Razif posing with his Merdeka poster at the launching of the Jalur Gemilang campaign in Putrajaya. The boy was mimicking Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman’s historic cry of ‘Merdeka,’ complete with a ‘tengkolok’ on his head and a ‘kain samping’ around his waist – both fashioned from newspapers.

PUTRAJAYA: Kindergarten student Zarif Razif may be a little young to understand the concept of Merdeka but he has surely captured a few hearts while attempting to do so.

The cheerful five-year-old is a star in this year’s billboards to promote the Merdeka celebrations, where he is seen happily mimicking Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman’s historic cry of “Merdeka!”, complete with a tengkolok on his head and a kain samping around his waist – both fashioned from newspaper.
