IPOH: A PAS central committee member is confident that the party leaders will make the right decision Sunday as to rescind its support for embattled Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad (pic) said the Port Klang assemblyman was no longer a PKR member after being sacked by his party, thus he was no longer part of Pakatan Rakyat.

"He is an independent assemblyman now.

"For the past five consecutive years, we have been very clear on our resolution during our annual general meetings to continue standing together with Pakatan," he told journalists during a PKR fund-raising dinner here on Friday.

"I am confident that the decision from the meeting on Sunday will have a same standing as other component parties," he said.

Khalid Samad said that the point of contention amongst party leaders was the candidate for the Mentri Besar post.

"In general, when Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's name is mentioned, she is only pictured as the wife of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"People often forgets that she is also PKR president," he said.

"This matter can be resolved in due time.

“For PAS, we have stated that we will not put our leaders as a candidate to honour and respect the decision made by PKR and DAP since 2008," he added.

Khalid Samad also stressed that Khalid Ibrahim no longer has the majority of support from state assemblymen as claimed.

He said two PAS assemblymen have pledged their support for Dr Wan Azizah, tipping the scale of support for her 30 to 26.

Hulu Klang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin have both stated their support for Dr Wan Azizah.
