Selangor MB crisis: Khalid ‘extremely selfish’ to hold on, says Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is ‘extremely selfish’ to hold on to his position, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng (pic).

He said Khalid's act of hanging on to the position while PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has demonstrated that she has garnered the majority support in the Selangor state assembly is unconstitutional.

"Khalid has to go. It's as simple as that.

"It's also against the principle of democracy.

"I think that's extremely selfish and not in the interest of democracy and the people as well as the state and Federal Constitution," he said after attending Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari's Merdekaraya open house in Pulau Tikus Saturday.

Lim, who is also the Penang Chief Minister said it’s clearly stated in the state constitution when another person obtain the majority support of the state assembly, he or she will be appointed as the new MB.

He added that the DAP supports PKR's decision as the position is held by the latter's candidate.
