SHAH ALAM: Plans to stage a demonstration at the Selangor state secretariat building, to call for Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to step down were cancelled due to heavy downpour.

Former Selangor DAP state councillor Ronnie Liu said besides the bad weather, the organisers would not be able to go ahead with the demonstration as they had other pressing matters to attend to.

"The organisers contacted me to inform me about the cancellation.

"The demonstration will be postponed to another day," he said Saturday.

Commenting on Khalid's plans to dissolve the assembly, Liu said it is a welcomed move that would give power back to the people.

"I think if he has talked about it, then he should do it.

"He has no reason to hold on to the post any longer.

“Wan Azizah has shown that she has the support of the majority.

"The faster we resolve this crisis, the better it is for Selangor," he said to reporters at the secretariat building.
