KTM provides 32 buses following cargo train derailment

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM Berhad has provided 32 shuttle buses at several stations following the disruption of its services.

According to a KTM Berhad statement released at 4pm Friday, the buses were for passengers at KL Sentral, Kepong, Sentul and Tanjung Malim stations.

At 3.11am, a cargo train from Padang Jawa to Chemor, Perak, slipped at KM386 between Bank Negara and Kuala Lumpur, affecting four of the 30 carriages which blocked the tracks.

Following the incident, train services this morning was disrupted along four routes - Sungai Gadut to Rawang (both ways) and Batu Caves to Port Klang (both ways).

There were no train services operating to and from Kuala Lumpur, Bank Negara, Sentul and Segambut stations.

The KTM Intercity services disrupted were:

- Ekspres Rakyat (Butterworth-Singapore). The train will stop at the Tanjung Malim station, passengers can continue their journey by bus to KL Sentral and board the train to Singapore.

- Ekspres Rakyat (Singapore-Butterworth). The service stops at the KL Sentral station and passengers can board the bus to Tanjung Malim and continue their journey to Butterworth by train.

- Ekspres Langkawi (KL Sentral-Hatyai). Passengers can board the bus at KL Sentral station to Tanjung Malim and continue the journey to Hatyai by train.

- ETS Train (KL Sentral-Ipoh). Passengers can board the bus at KL Sentral station to go to Stesen Tanjung Malim and continue to Ipoh by bus.

- ETS Train (Ipoh-KL Sentral). The service will stop at the Tanjung Malim station and passengers can proceed by bus to KL Sentral. - Bernama
