Major fishing firms get reprieve from Esscom


KOTA KINABALU: An understanding has been reached between commercial fishermen and the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) to allow them to continue their fishing activities following the implementation of the dusk-to-dawn sea curfew.

Major fishing companies will have to apply for a special permit from the respective police chiefs of the six affected districts of Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Semporna, Kunak and Tawau.
