Academic: Get legal backing for shoot-first option


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia must first secure legal backing before allowing its armed forces to shoot on sight suspected foreign terrorists encroaching into Sabah waters, says an academic.

Malaysia International Islamic Univer­sity law lecturer Assoc Prof Dr Sham­rahayu A. Aziz said empowerment accorded to the security forces should be in compliance with national and international protocols.
