SHAH ALAM: The “Say No To Kidex” group wants the Selangor Government not to issue a fresh gazette for land acquisition to build the interlink highway.
Quoting the Land Acquisition Act 1960 which states that the land acquisition gazetted for the project was valid only until July 17, the protem committee urged the state not to extend or issue a fresh gazette until a proper impact study was conducted.
Committee member Mak Khuin Weng claimed the developer had yet to submit the traffic impact assessment, environment impact assessment and socio-economic assessment reports to the relevant parties.
“By proceeding with the publication of the gazette without the necessary reports which are required to justify the publication under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, Pakatan Rakyat would also be reneging on its manifesto which is to abolish tolls and monopolies,” he told reporters after submitting a memorandum to a representative of the Selangor Mentri Besar’s office here yesterday.
The proposed Kidex is a 14.9km elevated superhighway or skyway which will cost RM2.24bil. It could reach six to eight storeys high and was designed to reduce travelling time between Damansara and Kinrara by by 25%.
It links the New Klang Valley Expressway’s (NKVE) Damansara toll exit to Bandar Kinrara, terminating after the Bukit Jalil Highway in Puchong.
Construction is expected to start early next year and completed by 2018.
