PETALING JAYA: There had been a surge of 80,000 Astro on the Go (AOTG) downloads since the World Cup began last month, said Astro chief commercial officer Liew Swee Lin.

She said the network recorded a total of 900,000 downloads so far.

“Malaysians find it very convenient as they can catch the games from anywhere.

“We expect more downloads for the final as many Malaysians may be travelling over the long weekend,” said Liew.

Requiring only a working internet connection, the app allows fans to watch all the World Cup matches live wherever they are, even while travelling.

“Those without the pass will be able to watch the match on a complimentary basis via Astro Arena (Ch 801), featuring commentary in Bahasa Malaysia.

“The match can also be viewed with Cantonese commentary by tuning in to Astro Wah Lai Toi (Ch 311) and Astro Zhi Zun HD (Ch 310),” Astro said in a statement.

The AOTG access is available to both the network’s subscribers and non-subscribers.
