KUALA LUMPUR: The local vendors in Chow Kit, who had opened stalls selling clothes and shoes for the Ramadan month, appeared hostile in comparison to the homeless who greeted me with a warm smile, when I met them last Thursday.
They were welcoming, offered me their seats and even the food – the only meal they’d had that day – they’d been given. They even expressed concern about a young woman being out alone late at night.
