Japanese politician shows yen for hysterics over allegations of funds misuse

PETALING JAYA: A video of a hysterical Japanese politician bursting into tears over suspicions that he misused 3mil yen (RM93,643) in expenses has gone viral.

The Independent reported that Ryutaro Nonomura was angrily crying while yelling “You don’t understand!” at journalists while defending his actions at a conference held at the Hyogo Prefectural Assembly on Tuesday in Kobe.

Criticism surfaced last week after it was discovered that he had claimed for 195-long distance tickets but failed to provide receipts and evidence of official work conducted on said trips, Rocket News 24 reported.

During his outburst, Nonomura insisted he went to all the places he claimed for, punctuating his heaving sobs with deep breaths and banging the table with his fists before taking sips of water to calm down.
