Fireman killed in the line of duty, weeks before earning stripes


BATU PAHAT: Just short of one test before he could be a full-fledged fireman, Fire and Rescue Department officer Mohd Taufik Ali was killed in the line of duty when a lorry hit him and another officer after they put out a bushfire in Pontian.

The lorry, which was heading towards Pontian from Johor Baru, crashed into the two officers while they were packing their equipment along Jalan Batu 29 in Pengkalan Raja here at about 3.50pm on Saturday.
