Khalid to meet with Mais, Jais next week for 'consensus' over bible issue


PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Menteri Besar has called for a meeting with relevant authorities to reach a consensus on the issue of bibles seized from the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM), before seeking a decision from the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

In a statement, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said that he had requested state secretary Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi to call for a meeting with Selangor mufti Datuk Seri Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid and state legal advisor Datuk Nik Suhaimi Nik Sulaiman, as well as representatives from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) to discuss the matter next week.
