IPOH: From his bed at the palliative care unit of a hospital here, 59-year-old Subramaniam Thambusamy held out his weak hands to clasp the sister he had pined to see for the past 53 years.

“Finally, I get to meet you. My dying wish has come true,” he sobbed as he looked intently into the eyes of Maria Chiteradewi Oaland, 56, who was separated from Subramaniam and her other siblings when she was just three years old.
