SHAH ALAM: Thailand has not responded to the use its rain-making cloud seeding technology, Selangor executive councillor Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi said.
The exco in charge of infrastructure said letters had been sent to the Thai government and Malaysian ministry of defence but there has since been no follow up from them.
Dr Ahmad was speaking to reporters on the latest development in alternative water measures that the state had adopted following the water crisis last month.
Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had said that the state government was trying to get the help of the Thai government to use its cloud seeding technology to harvest rain at the Sungai Selangor dam.
Dr Ahmad Yunus said the water level at the Sungai Selangor stood at 41.75% on Friday morning.
He assured the people in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor that there would be enough water to last for the next five to six months.
"We have adopted several approaches in the recent months to address the water issue and I can confidently say that there will be enough water to last during the Ramadan month and after that," he said when asked of the state government's plan to address the impending El Nino next month.
Dr Ahmad Yunus reiterated that samples on waters that were being pumped from nearby lakes and mining pools were safe and met standards.
